Headlight Upgrade

The project for this evening was replacing the low beam bulbs and lenses in the S4’s headlights.

TSR-X lens swap

I picked up a pair of the TSR-X lenses from The Retrofit Source and a pair of Philips X-treme Vision 4800K bulbs from HID Concept.

There’s a nice DIY for the lens swap on Audizine.

The swap took a couple of hours with the second headlight going faster than the first as I applied what I learned from the first to the second.

Tomorrow I’ll have the chance to take the S4 out at night and see how the new setup looks.

Avant, Upgrade Work

Differential Installed

A couple of days ago the Avant’s rear differential came back from the shop where it was having an MFactory Helical Limited Slip Differential installed.  I set about installing the differential as well as a slightly newer Apikol rear differential mount.

I may finally be at the point where I can begin to put the remaining parts back on the Avant, most notably the exhaust, and start it up with the newer engine.

This round of upgrade work at the rear of the car has seen a set of Stasis Öhlins Motosport Coilovers arrive, 034Motorsport adjustable swaybar endlinks, 034Motorsport rear differential carrier, MFactory Limited Slip Differential, and Apikol rear differential mount, to go along with the already present Neuspeed rear swaybar.

Avant Engine Pull Checklist Complete

All preparations are complete in readying the Avant’s engine for removal.

A little extra fun with this motor on account of the Oil Cooler that needed to be removed before the AC compressor could be lowered.

In other news, the rear differential is now in the hands of ET Tuning for the installation of an MFactory Helical Limited Slip Differential.
